Terrorists Emerge From Forest, Open Fire After Asking Names

Around 2:30 PM, 3 to 4 uniformed terrorists who emerged from a forest nearby started demanding the names and religion of the tourists. Those who did not seem Muslim were shot at point blank.

One woman recalled, "We were just sitting and snacking. The terrorists approached and said — They don't look Muslim, shoot them. Then they shot my husband."

Tourists Left Behind as Horsemen Ride Away

A second survivor said, "Once the shooting started, the entire field emptied. The horsemen who brought us rode away and left us alone. Some of the tourists fled into the woods and hid behind trees."

Men were targeted mostly. Anyone in open view, most of all males, was shot by the attackers on the spot.

Eyewitness Testimony of a Resident

Gulzar Ahmad, a resident driver, said, "I was parked just below the hill when I heard the gunshots. I quickly assisted the tourists accompanying me to reach their hotel safely. I saw at least 25-30 people injured."
