There is a big fight going on between India and Pakistan, and now Turkey is getting involved — but not in a bad way. Turkey is trying to help bring peace.
On Thursday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke to Turkey’s President Erdogan on the phone. Sharif called Erdogan his “dear brother” and said thank you for supporting Pakistan during this hard time.
Sharif also said that the Pakistan army is working very hard to protect the country. He told the Turkish leader, “We will protect our country no matter what.”
What Did Turkey Say?
Turkey didn’t stay quiet. Its government said it does not agree with what India is doing, especially the recent missile strikes in Kashmir — a place that both India and Pakistan say belongs to them.
Turkey’s message said:
-
India’s actions could start a big war
-
Attacking normal people and buildings is not okay
-
There should be a proper investigation into what happened in Kashmir on April 22
India says Pakistan is behind a terror attack in Kashmir, but Pakistan says they did nothing wrong.
Are Pakistan and Turkey Friends?
Yes, they are! Pakistan and Turkey have been good friends for a long time. They help each other during tough times and talk about peace when things go wrong.
Right now, Turkey is on Pakistan’s side and is trying to help stop things from getting worse between India and Pakistan.
While other big countries like the United States are not doing much, Turkey is speaking up. Pakistan feels happy to have a strong friend like Turkey during this fight.
