Parliament Attack Anniversary: Leaders Honor Fallen Heroes
New Delhi [India], December 13: PM Narendra Modi, along with other political leasder and minister, assamble at the parliament to pay a tribute to the brave solders who sacrificed themself during the parlimant attack 23 year ago (Parliament Attack Anniversary).
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and Union Ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and Kiren Rijiju were among those present to honor the hero.
The Tribute was a earnest reminder of the horrific event of December 13, 2001. when a group pf terroist from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) attacked the indian Parliament. Brave personnel, including five Delhi Police officers, two Parliament Security Service members, one CRPF constable, and a gardener, lost their lives protecting the nation's legislative hub.
Parliament Attack Anniversary: Remembering the Heroes
The brave souls who defended the Parliament were Jagdish, Matbar, Kamlesh Kumari, Nanak Chand, Rampal (Delhi Police), Om Prakash, Bijender Singh, Ghanshyam (Parliament Security), and Deshraj, a CPWD gardener. Their sacrifice averted what could have been a fatal loss for the country.
The Attack and Its Aftermath
The attack was carried out using a vehicle with fake Home Ministry and Parliament labels, allowing terrorists to misconduct security. Equipped with AK-47s, grenade launchers, and pistols, the assailants targeted the Parliament building while over 100 individuals, including key political leaders, were inside. Swift action by security forces neutralized all five terrorists.
This evil act, attributed to planning and support from Pakistan's ISI, heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, culminating in the 2001-2002 standoff.
Today’s commemoration served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by India’s security personnel and the importance of vigilance in protecting democratic institutions.
