Pastor John Jebaraj, 37, affiliated with Kings Generation Church in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, was arrested in Munnar, Kerala, for allegedly sexually assaulting two minor girls. The arrest was executed by a special team from the Central All Women Police Station, Coimbatore.
Details of the Allegations
The alleged incidents occurred during a party at Jebaraj's residence in GN Mills, Coimbatore, on May 21, 2024. The victims, aged 17 and 14, reported the assaults after one confided in a relative, leading to the filing of a complaint on April 5, 2025.
Legal Proceedings Under POCSO Act
Jebaraj has been charged under Sections 9(l)(m) and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which pertain to aggravated sexual assault and its punishment. He was produced before the POCSO special court and remanded in judicial custody.
Investigation and Arrest
Following the complaint, Coimbatore City Police formed multiple teams to locate Jebaraj, who had been evading arrest. A lookout notice was issued to prevent him from fleeing the country. He was eventually traced to Munnar, Kerala, where he was arrested and brought back to Coimbatore for further legal proceedings.
