Some parts of Patiala in Punjab saw clashes between two groups during an anti-Khalistan protest on Friday.
The police resorted to firing in the air to disperse the crowd. At least two people were injured in Punjab clashes.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann called the clashes unfortunate, and vowed to restore peace in the state.
Besides, the district administration also appealed to Punjab residents to maintain peace and harmony.
The authorities have requested the two groups to resolve their “dispute or misunderstanding” through a dialogue.
The clashes broke out after the Shiv Sena procession came face to face with a Sikh group that is believed to be pro-Khalistan.
Notably, members of both groups also waved swords and threw stones at each other.
Meanwhile, the District Administration has appealed to all the brothers and sisters of Patiala and Punjab to continue to maintain peace and brotherhood.
