Pensioners' Forum DEMANDS Urgent Action on Outstanding OTA payments for Retirees

Kanpur, 31 January: An emergency meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the Pensioners Forum was held today at the RKM Gym, Pandav Nagar, Kanpur, under the leadership of Acting President Shri Rajesh Shukla. Several pressing issues were discussed in the meeting, mainly the long-pending OTA (Overtime Allowance) payment for employees working at the Defense Factory.

It was pointed out that the OTA payments for these employees have been outstanding since April 2009. The union representing active employees has been able to negotiate a settlement, and payments were made—50% for employees at OEF and 100% for those in the parachute department. Retirees and family pensioners have not received their payments because they do not have proper representation. There are apprehensions that CMD officials expect some conditions to be met by the retirees and family pensioners, which they cannot fulfill. Therefore, their payments remain withheld.

After much deliberation, the forum decided that General Secretary Anand Awasthi will write to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and the CMD, requesting them not to tarnish the government's reputation and to fulfill the pending payments. The forum declared that in case of no response within 15 days, all constitutional steps would be taken against the officials concerned. The General Secretary added that attempts to defame the Prime Minister would not be tolerated and if the payments were not cleared within the time frame, the forum would take all possible actions and the CMD would be held responsible for the consequences.

Persons attending the meeting were Saty Narayan Apaar (General Secretary), A.K. Nigam, Siddhnath Tiwari, Paramjeet Singh Sodhi, Amarjeet, Nawal Mishra Advocate, Kamal Verma, B.P. Srivastava, R.P. Verma and many more. It was agreed upon in the meeting that action would be taken immediately to retrieve justice for pensioners and retirees.
