Pensioners’ Forum to Hold Key Review Meeting on August 8; Major Demands to Be Discussed
In a significant development, the Pensioners’ Forum has announced that it will hold a review meeting on August 8 to assess its ongoing activities and finalize future programs. The meeting will focus on a wide range of pending issues concerning pensioners, according to General Secretary Anand Awasthi.
Speaking on behalf of the organization, Awasthi stated that primary demands include the formation of a new Pay Commission, clarification on the legal status of pensioners, and the release of 18 months’ withheld Dearness Allowance (DA). Additionally, the forum is pushing for the distribution of branded medicines for chronic illnesses among senior beneficiaries, travel concessions every alternate year with a companion, inclusion of pensioners in departmental advisory committees, and 5% reservation in government jobs and competitive exams for retired personnel. Another major demand is to provide housing facilities to those who couldn’t build homes during their service.
The decision was taken during the Chief Executive Meeting of the forum held at Chitragupta Dharmshala. Prominent members present included S/Shri Satya Narain (Vice President), A.K. Nigam, Subhash Bhatia, Jiya Lal Yadav, N.K. Dubey, R.B. Ninoria, Dhani Ram, Chandra Shekhar, Ramesh, and S.C. Singh.
The forum aims to raise these issues with concerned government departments in the coming months.
