Pensioners to Mark Kranti Diwas on August 14 Over Delay in 8th Pay Commission
Kanpur — The Pension Forum has announced that central and state government pensioners will observe Kranti Diwas on August 14, protesting the delay in the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. The decision was taken in a working committee meeting chaired by Acting President Rajesh Kumar Shukla, with General Secretary Anand Awasthi addressing the gathering.
Awasthi stated that despite repeated demands, the central government has not yet announced the constitution of the 8th Pay Commission, which is due by January 2026. He pointed out that inflation has eroded the value of pensions, and dearness allowance (DA) increases have not been sufficient to meet rising costs. Pensioners have also expressed concern over inadequate medical facilities and other benefits.
The meeting resolved that on August 14, pensioners will assemble at Tripula Dharmshala in Govind Nagar to honor freedom fighters and deliberate on the movement’s future course.
Key attendees included Rajesh Kumar Shukla, Anand Awasthi, P.L. Gulati, Satya Narayan, Subhash Bhartiya, B.P. Srivastava, V.P. Vikram, Ashutosh Kumar Tiwari, Suresh Pandey, and other senior members.
