Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday chaired a meeting to review the overall COVID-19 situation in the country.

Discussions took place over the progress of ongoing Covid-19 vaccination, availability of essential drugs the scaling up of vaccine production.

PM Modi also directed the officials that citizens should be facilitated for vaccination despite lockdowns. Moreover, healthcare workers involved in vaccination must not be diverted for other duties.

Modi was also informed about the vaccine wastage across India. Union ministers from Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Harsh Vardhan to Piyush Goyal among others attended the meeting along with top officials.

PM Modi emphasized on ensuring quick and holistic containment measures to curb the COVID-19 virus spread.

He was briefed about 12 states that have over 100,000 active cases. Mr Modi says that the states should be given help and guidance on ramping up the healthcare infrastructure.

The situation should not get worse when it comes to COVID-19 cases in the country. To prepare better to fight the virus India needs vaccination.
