As soon as Pakistan’s new Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took the reins of the country, PM Modi congratulated his counterpart.
This comes just hours after the new Pak PM asked him to come forward and address “the Kashmir issue.”
Junior Sharif spoke on how the two countries could concentrate on tackling poverty and unemployment.
Besides, Prime Minister Modi also said that India desired peace and stability in a region free of terrorism.
Pakistan parliament on Monday elected Shehbaz Sharif as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Shehbaz Sharif was sworn in by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani.
PM Modi congratulates Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif
The new PM secured 174 votes and was hereby declared the new prime minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
He is also the younger brother of former PM Nawaz Sharif. Moreover, PM Modi’s congratulatory tweet is quite similar to his first letter to ex-PM Imran Khan in 2018.
Furthermore, it is to be noted here that Shehbaz Sharif is quite close to the Pakistan Army.
With the induction of Shehbaz Sharif as the new Pak PM, better trade ties with India may help their collapsing economy.
