Prime Minister Narendra Modi making a grand call for vaccination said that Covid vaccines should now be taken door-to-door.
Devoting equal focus on the second dose, PM Modi suggested that the religious leaders and youth organisations like National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme should also come ahead to make it work.
This comes as several states asked the Centre to allow door-door vaccination, especially for those who are ailing or unable to visit vaccination centres.
At a virtual meeting of Chief Ministers and officials of states with lesser vaccination rates, PM Modi on Wednesday said, “Till now all of you have made arrangements for taking the people to vaccination centres. Now vaccines should be taken to every door, there should be a door-to-door vaccine.”
Over 40 District Magistrates from Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, and other states were present at the meeting.
These are the states with low vaccination coverage. Also, Chief Ministers of these states were also present on this occasion.
“Under the free vaccine campaign, we have administered about 2.5 crore vaccine doses in a day. It shows our capacity,” he said.
The motto for the same will be ‘Every home vaccine, door-to-door vaccine’. PM Modi also suggested that the officials along with the door-to-door vaccination should also ensure that the people take their second dose. Prime Minister Modi has just returned after attending the COP26.
