Diwali 2021: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reached Jammu to celebrate Diwali with soldiers.
Those stationed near the Line of Control in the Nowshera sector will have PM Modi celebrating the festival of lights.
This is for the second time when Prime Minister Modi will be celebrating Diwali with troops in the district.
Ahead of the PM’s visit, Army Chief General MM Naravane arrived in Jammu on Wednesday and visited forward areas to assess the security situation.
Moreover, the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri had recently witnessed a spurt in violence and 11 soldiers were even killed over the last three weeks.
The Indian Army has been engaged in one of the longest anti-terrorism operations in Poonch-Rajouri area in the last 24 days.
Nine soldiers have lost their lives so far. But they are trying their best to give a befitting reply to the terrorists hiding in the region.
In 2019, the Prime Minister had celebrated Diwali at an Army division in Rajouri. This time too, he is celebrating the festival of lights with soldiers in Nowshera, close to the LoC.
Two soldiers including an officer were killed in a mine blast in the same sector last week.
