PM Modi Announces Revolutionary Empowerment Initiative for Women in Panipat: Bima Sakhi & Others

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Centre has introduced revolutionary policies during the last decade to empower women all over India. At a public gathering in Panipat on Monday, Modi further said that empowering women is high on the government's agenda from constructing over 120 million toilets since 2014 to creating an environment which would drastically improve sanitation and quality of life for women, particularly in rural India.

In his speech, Modi said several initiatives he has for women, mainly in villages. He especially mentioned a new stipendiary scheme in the name of Bima Sakhi, where he plans to train 2 lakh women to be insurance agents. These ladies will have an assured three-year income totaling ₹2.16 lakh per individual. The Bima Sakhi initiative seeks to increase financial inclusion among women and make them financially independent within the broader objective of significantly participating in the insurance sector.

PM Modi also appreciated Haryana for embracing the mantra "ek hain to safe hain," which has set a good example for the entire country in terms of women's safety and empowerment. He further said that these schemes, such as Bima Sakhi, Krishi Sakhi, Pashu Sakhi, and Lakhpati Didi, which appear simple, are changing the fate of thousands of Indian women.

In his speech, Modi made a subtle attack on the opposition and boasted of how women voters have increasingly sided with the BJP in recent polls, which boosts the BJP support from mothers, daughters, and sisters.

Modi further assured the people of Haryana that the double-engine BJP government, both at the state and national levels, will work three times faster to ensure all-round development. He assured the people that women's empowerment will remain at the forefront of his government's agenda, with ongoing support for farmers, women, and youth.
