PM Modi to hold review meet over Cyclone Yaas

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting today to review the preparations for Cyclone Yaas. The cyclone Yaas will cross the Odisha and West Bengal coasts on May 23, 2021.

“The Prime Minister will hold a meeting today with senior government officials and representatives from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Secretaries from Telecom, Power, Civil Aviation, Earth Sciences Ministries to review preparations against the approaching Cyclone Yaas,” a source familiar with the development was quoted as telling NDTV.

Ministers including Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also attend this meeting.

On Saturday, the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) held a meeting where Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba reviewed the preparedness for the cyclone Yaas.

As a part of the preparation, the Army personnel and engineer task forces have been put on standby for the rescue and relief operations in the two states.
