Priyanka urged Shah to release ₹2,221 crore as a relief fund to help restore the devastated region.

Priyanka Gandhi's Call for National Disaster Status

The Kerala government had sought to term it a national disaster, as that would have made better relief and rehabilitation efforts possible, but the center refused the plea.
The Kerala government too had requested ₹2,000 crore as an assistance to mitigate the situation.
Leaders to Survey Damage
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi have already visited Wayanad, which has termed this floods as a serious disaster. Other MPs too with Priyanka wrote to the PM, seeking urgent help to this region.
