Pune Airport gets new terminal

In an effort to elevate the passenger experience at Pune Airport, the New Integrated Terminal Building was officially put into operation on Sunday. The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation.

Minister Murlidhar Mohol personally facilitated passengers by distributing boarding passes. The rest of the airlines serving Pune Airport are scheduled to transition to operations at the new terminal in a phased manner.

The state-of-the-art terminal, spanning over 52,000 sq metres, has been designed to handle up to nine million passengers annually to accommodate the growing air traffic. Featuring central air-conditioning and ten passenger boarding bridges, including five new additions, the terminal aims to streamline passenger movement from the building to the aircraft.

A total of 34 check-in counters and 25 self-service kiosks have been set up to ensure swift check-in experiences for travelers. Additionally, the energy-efficient terminal boasts a four-star GRIHA rating and sets aside dedicated spaces of 915 sq metres for food and beverages, and 1,206 sq metres for retail outlets.

Equipped with an In-Line Hold Baggage Handling System (ILHBS) utilizing cutting-edge security technology, the terminal offers an automated baggage screening process, reducing queues and enhancing the efficiency of check-ins, aligning with industry best practices seen in leading airports across India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the building in March.
