Pushkar Singh Rawat will be the eleventh Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He has been selected by the BJP legislature party for the post.
The change of guard comes hours after Tirath Singh Rawat Resigned from his post amid confusion over his ability to win a seat in the state Legislative Assembly.
Dhami, who is considered very close to Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, emerged as the leader of the BJP legislature party after a meeting of 57 MLAs at the party headquarters in Dehradun.
The 45-year old politician has won assembly elections two times. Currently, he is representing the Khatima constituency of the state. He has also served as an Officer on Special to former Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshiyari.
He expressed his gratitude to BJP leadership for trusting him and said he will tackle challenges with the cooperation of everyone, according to the reports.
