After pressing for the arrest and dismissal of Union Minister Ajay Mishra over Lakhimpur incident, farmers’ body is now calling for a nationwide ‘Rail roko’ agitation.
Mishra’s son has already been arrested in violence against farmers case.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) is an umbrella body of farmers’ unions. The body will hold a peaceful nationwide ‘rail roko protest’ from 10 am to 4 pm for justice in Lakhimpur Kheri violence in UP.
As per the Lucknow police, stringent National Security Act will be invoked against those trying to disrupt normalcy.
So far, Ajay Mishra’s son, Ashish, has been arrested in the case against farmer’s violence. But the farmers’ body now insists on minister’s dismissal from the position.
At least eight people, including four farmers, were killed in the Lakhimpur incident.
It was when a car that belongs to the minister ran over them all on October 3.
As per the farmers who were present there, they allege that the minister’s son mowed down the protesting farmers.
However, the minister has refuted all the allegations by saying that his son was not even present at the site of the incident.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also termed the Lakhimpur incident as absolutely condemnable.
Also, Rahul Gandhi-led Congress delegation had urged President Ram Nath Kovind to sack the minister whose son is accused in the case.
