Sonia Gandhi speaks at the Day 2 session:
Party head Mallikarjun Kharge and seasoned Congresswoman Sonia Gandhi spoke to the delegation on Day 2 of the meeting. Although Kharge emphasised teaming up with groups that share his views to oppose the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He attacked the BJP for being anti-poor and claimed that “people in charge in Delhi are attacking them as anti-poor by DNA.”
Sonia Gandhi, meanwhile, accused the BJP of “fueling enmity” in society. The current period, she claimed, is difficult for the Congress because “PM Modi and the BJP have grabbed every institution.” Her remarks come as the Congress has criticised the Modi administration for conducting raids on Party lawmakers prior to the plenary session.
In a money laundering investigation, the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches on sites in Raipur connected to eight Congress leaders and office bearers on Monday. In response, the Congress said the raids had “provided booster dose to them to be even more active.”
Highlights from the first session of the day:
The crucial meeting that would establish the new working committee for the Congress and lay the groundwork for its 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign began on Friday. The steering committee unanimously decided that Mallikarjun Kharge would nominate all of the CWC members, and there would be no elections. The Gandhis missed the Friday steering committee meeting.
When Rahul Gandhi was the party’s president in 2018, the 84th plenary session of Congress was held there.
