She experienced severe abdominal pain for 90 days before it got detected at AIIMS Jodhpur, where a CT scan confirmed the presence of the towel.
She suffered for three months with the condition, she was taken to different hospitals, and her problem was diagnosed as a lump in her abdomen. Negligence has severely damaged her intestines, and for several months, she will have to confine herself to a liquid diet to recover.
After the revelation, the local health department constituted a three-member inquiry committee to probe into the incident. However, the victim has lodged a complaint with the law and expressed dissatisfaction at such inquiry going on. The case has revived fears over the region's healthcare standards.
