Rao Inderjit Singh Stakes Claim for Haryana CM Post, Says 'People Want Me to Lead'
Central Minister Rao Inderjit Singh has publicly expressed his desire to become the next Chief Minister of Haryana, staking his claim for the top position ahead of the upcoming state elections. Speaking in Rewari, where he was present to support BJP candidate Lakshman Singh Yadav’s nomination, Singh made it clear that he believes the people of Haryana want him to take on the role of Chief Minister.
Public Support and Family Influence
Responding to media questions, Singh highlighted that if the people hadn’t supported the BJP, current Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would not have served a second term. Singh also pointed to his family’s long-standing influence in the Ahirwal region, which includes 11 key constituencies in districts like Rewari, Nuh, Gurugram, and Mahendragarh. Notably, his daughter, Aarti Rao, is running as the BJP candidate from the Ateli Assembly seat, following in the footsteps of her father and her grandfather, former CM Rao Birender Singh.
Dodging the '75 Plus' Question
When asked about the BJP’s previous electoral slogan of winning "75 plus" seats in Haryana, Singh laughed off the question, avoiding a direct response. He simply said that it wasn’t the right time to comment on it.
Targeting Former Minister Ajay Singh Yadav
Singh also took aim at former Haryana minister Captain Ajay Singh Yadav, questioning his future loyalty to the Congress. Earlier on Monday, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda had accompanied Captain Yadav’s son, Chiranjeev Rao, during his nomination filing for the Rewari seat. Singh hinted that Yadav’s political allegiance may not be certain in the future.
Rao Inderjit Singh’s open claim to the Chief Minister's post has added a new dimension to the political landscape in Haryana, where key figures are positioning themselves ahead of the elections.
