Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the statue of Swami Vivekanand at Jawahar Lal Nehru University, the demand to rename the premier institute after Swami Vivekanand has arisen from the Bharatiya Janta Party.
BJP’s national general secretary for Maharashtra, Goa, and Tamil Nadu, CT Ravi, demanded the renaming of the institution after the name of Swami Vivekanand, the youth icon of India. The name of BJP general secretary, CT Ravi, comes first in the row of those who are known for their controversial remarks.
While justifying his demand, BJP general secretary CT Ravi said, “It is Swami Vivekanand who stood for the “Idea Of Bharat.” His philosophy & values signify the “Strength of Bharat.” Insisting on renaming of the institution, he said that it is only right that Jawahar Lal Nehru be renamed as the Swami Vivekanand University. “Life of Bharat’s patriotic saint will inspire generations to come,” he said in his tweet.
