Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi passed away at the age of 100. “A glorious century rests at the feet of God,” PM Modi said while informing about her demise.
PM Modi took it to Twitter and wrote, “In Maa I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values.”
In another tweet, the prime minister said, “When I met her on her 100th birthday, she said one thing, which is always remembered that is work with intelligence, live life with purity.”
Heeraben, also called Heeraba, was on Wednesday admitted to Ahmedabad’s UN Mehta Hospital. She was taken to hospital after her health deteriorated.
Heeraben use to live with PM Modi’s younger brother Pankaj Modi at Raysan village near Gandhinagar. PM Modi used to regularly visit Raysan to spend time with her mother during most of his Gujarat visits.
PM Modi had visited her mother at her residence in Gandhinagar after campaigning for the Gujarat Assembly elections to seek her blessings.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel condoled the demise of Heeraben Modi. In a tweet, he wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing away of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi’s mother Pujya Hiraba. Pujya Hiraba was an epitome of generosity, simplicity, hard work and high values of life. I pray that God rest his soul in peace.”
Union Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed grief and wrote, “I am deeply pained by the passing away of Hira Ba, mother of Prime Minister Shri narendramodi. The death of a mother leaves such a void in one’s life that is impossible to fill. I express my condolences to the Prime Minister and his entire family in this hour of grief. Om Shanti!”
Meanwhile on Tuesday, PM Modi’s younger brother Prahlad Modi met with a car accident and received injuries.Reports said the incident happened when he was traveling to Bandipur along with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. His Mercedes Benz car hit the divider near Mysuru, Karnataka.
Prahlad Modi and his family members were admitted to a hospital with minor injuries and are safe.
