RTI Issues Strict Warning Against Provocative Stickers on Vehicles: Fines and Penalties Imposed
Bengaluru, September 6, 2024 — In response to the increasing use of provocative stickers and writings on vehicles following actor Darshan’s recent arrest, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued a stern warning. The RTO and police department have observed a rise in controversial and inflammatory stickers, often targeting other actors' fans or inciting unrest. The RTO has now taken a firm stance against these practices.
Since Darshan's transfer to Bellary Jail, there has been a notable surge in stickers and writings on vehicles that are either offensive or meant to provoke. These stickers have not only featured inflammatory messages but also included pictures and names of various celebrities. The RTO has emphasized that such provocative stickers are unacceptable and that strict action will be taken against those found violating these guidelines.
Previously, enforcement was primarily focused on stickers and writings on number plates. However, the RTO has expanded its scrutiny to include other parts of vehicles. The new directive warns that any unauthorized writings or stickers on vehicles will be met with strict penalties.
Fines and Penalties:
First Offense: ₹500 fine
Second Offense: ₹1,000 fine
Third Offense: Possible revocation of vehicle registration
The RTO's Additional Commissioner, Mallikarjun, stated that the Supreme Court has issued directives on how number plates should be maintained, and the RTO has been actively recording cases in line with these regulations. The department is also working on increasing public awareness about these rules.
"The law is the same for everyone. All must adhere to the legal standards," said Shivamurthy, a vehicle owner. The RTO has made it clear that any further instances of provocative displays will result in decisive action.
