Samajwadi Party Woman Leader Threatens on Facebook Live: "Police Are Silent, Action Will Happen Only After I Commit Suicide"
In a shocking incident, a former mayoral candidate of the Samajwadi Party in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, Juhi Prakash, went live on Facebook to threaten suicide against the police. In the 6-minute-16-second video, she alleged that her husband, Yogendra Pratap Singh, assaulted her and issued death threats. She claimed that despite filing a complaint two months ago, the police had not arrested him.
A viral Facebook live streamed from Juhi Prakash's account has started much discussion. In the video, Juhi stated, "This is my last live. If I don't get justice, I will commit suicide. The police are inactive, and no action is being taken against my husband. Will justice be served only after my death?" She also claimed negligence by the police and alleged that her repeated pleas for action had been ignored, causing immense mental harassment.
Juhi claimed that she had lodged an FIR against her husband on the charges of physical assault and threatening, but evidence, such as audio recordings and statements of witnesses, could not result in any advancement of the case. She further added that pressure was being mounted on investigating officers to withdraw the case.
Allegations Against Husband by Juhi Prakash
Juhi alleged that her husband, Yogendra Pratap Singh, physically and mentally abused her. She added that he often harassed her on social media and openly indulged in inappropriate behavior, including taking other women in his car. Juhi provided recordings and documents to the police but claimed no action had been taken.
Juhi also said that no one was taking her complaints seriously and that she had been running from pillar to post. She added, "My mental harassment has reached its peak. If the police do not act, I will end my life, and the responsibility will lie with those against whom I filed the FIR.
Interestingly, the allegations against Juhi also come from her husband. Yogendra Pratap Singh filed a complaint in September accusing her of assaulting him physically that necessitated long medical treatment. He further accused Juhi of marrying him under false pretenses and demanding money when he contested the Agra mayoral elections. Yogendra further says Juhi had deceived him and put him through constant harassment.
Police Under Scam
Juhi’s live video has raised serious questions about the police's handling of her case. While her video is being widely shared and discussed on social media, it highlights the challenges faced by individuals seeking justice. In response to the incident, officials have stated that they are reviewing the complaints and evidence provided by both parties to ensure a fair investigation.
