Sambhal Violence: Will Bulldozers Target Sambhal MP's House? Authorities Issue Ultimatum to Ziaur Rahman
Sambhal Violence: The Sambhal district administration has issued a notice to Samajwadi Party MP Ziaur Rahman Barq over the construction of his house. The notice is that the house is being constructed without the map approval required. This has opened up the possibility of bulldozer action against the under-construction property. Barq is also accused of inciting violence during the recent unrest in Sambhal and had sharply criticized previous bulldozer actions in the area.
The house, under construction for two years, stands in the Deepa Sarai area under the Sadar Kotwali jurisdiction. The administration has issued a "show cause" notice to the house owner, putting an end to further work on the property and imposing a fine of ₹10,000. Sambhal SDM Vandana Mishra said in the notice that the construction is illegal without an approved plan and demanded a response by December 12. In case the MP fails to provide the needed documents, he could face extra fines of ₹500 per day and legal action.
Notice Details
The notice is regarding Barq's ancestral house, which was two years ago demolished for reconstruction. On December 5, the administration sought the approved building map of the construction work going on. Barq was given till December 12 to respond. In case of failure, penalties would go up. The SDM clarified that in case of further construction without approval, the penalties would be more severe.
Bulldozer Action Controversy
The controversy comes after fierce opposition from Barq concerning bulldozer actions taking place in Muslim neighborhoods over the violence of November 24 in Sambhal. He had already accused administration of targeting the Muslim community under cover of law enforcement. In a recent statement on social media, Barq condemned the action as intimidation of Muslims and alleged as unjust imprisonment based on unproven accusations.
