Sambhal Violence: Shahi Jama Masjid President Arrested, Police Cites Suspicious Role

After violence broke out in Sambhal during a mosque survey, police arrested Shahi Jama Masjid president Zafar Ali, alleging his involvement. The incident resulted in four deaths and extensive damage. Authorities have filed cases against 2,750 unidentified individuals and arrested 25 people, with heavy police presence continuing in the area.

Sambhal Violence: Violence broke out in Sambhal when the survey underway at the Shahi Jama Masjid on November 24 ended in four deaths and injuries to police personnel. Policemen detain several people, including the president of Shahi Jama Masjid, Zafar Ali, for his "suspicious role" in the mayhem.

Zafar Ali asked policemen to explain the reasons for his arrest to which policemen responded that evidence linked him to violence. Uttar Pradesh Police said that he was detained based on concrete evidence. The violence brought 800 people under their books. This includes an MP of Samajwadi Party Ziaur Rahman Barq and Sohail Iqbal. He is also accused of inciting the mob.

The situation remains tense, with heavy police deployment. So far, seven FIRs have been registered against 2,750 unidentified individuals, and 25 arrests have been made. Authorities are still investigating the cause and the participants of the violence.
