SC Proposes Independent Committee to Address Farmers' Demands, Including Legal Guarantee for MSP
The Supreme Court of India has proposed the formation of an independent committee to address the demands of farmers, including a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops. This committee will work with farmers and other stakeholders to find a fair resolution to their concerns.
The court has ordered a one-week status quo at the Shambu border near Ambala, where farmers have been protesting since February 13. Both Punjab and Haryana have been instructed to suggest names for the committee and to gradually remove barricades to reduce public inconvenience. The court emphasized the need to prevent escalation and find a viable solution that considers the interests of all parties involved.
The Supreme Court's move aims to address farmers' grievances effectively and ensure that their demands are met in a structured manner.
