About 30 sadhus have tested positive for coronavirus at the ongoing Kumbh mela. Another one has also died in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar.

Kumbh Mela is one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. But this congregation may add to the covid-10 woes of India even further.

Those who have contracted the coronavirus and are from Haridwar are now in home quarantine.

While those who came from other regions are being sent to hospitals.

Also, some others with the critical covid-19 condition are being referred to AIIMS Rishikesh.

So far more than 1,700 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the Haridwar Kumbh Mela area.

The Uttarakhand government has imposed a night curfew across the state. Experts are raising concern over the brazen violation of Covid-19 guidelines.

Moreover, Panchayati Niranjani Akhada which is one of the 13 akhadas Thursday announced the conclusion of the Kumbh mela on April 17.

Kumbh is a four month gathering. But owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the duration of the congregation has been curtailed to one month this year.
