The Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court on June 24, 2021, adjourned the hearing on an appeal against the acquittal of Journalist Tarun Tejpal in the 2013 rape case. The court would begin hearing on the appeal filed by the Goa government after July 24, 2021.
According to the reports, the division bench of Justices MS Sonak and MS Jawalkar permitted the Goa government to amend its appeal and give a copy of it to Tarun Tejpal.
Senior Advocate who appeared for Tarun Tejpal told the court that they would need some time for preparation.
Responding to Kapil Sibal, the court said that it would hear the appeal on July 29, 2021. The bench also asked Goa government to amend the appeal with a week and give a copy of it to Tarun Tejpal.
On May 21, the editor-in-chief of the Tehelka magazine was acquitted by the Sessions Judge Kshama Joshi in the 2013 rape case.
He was accused of sexually assaulting his co-worker in a five-star hotel in Goa in November 2013.
