Sonu Sood will become the brand ambassador for the Delhi government’s ‘Desh Ke Mentor’ initiative.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced this news on Friday.
The actor met Kejriwal at the national capital, a day after the AAP chief announced of his government coming up with ‘the most progressive’ film policy in India.
He stressed that this policy would provide a massive boost to the entertainment industry.
A joint press conference also took place after their meeting. The Delhi CM praised his philanthropic acts, especially during the coronavirus-induced crisis. Several migrants were left in the lurch after the lockdown.
Sonu Sood will be the brand ambassador for ‘Desh ke Mentor’ initiative. It is a mentorship programme in the wake of the crisis. Mr Kejriwal said that it is India’s largest mentoring programme yet, which will see around 3 lakh young professionals guiding and mentoring 10 lakh Delhi government school students for a bright future.
Sonu Sood and Desh Ke Mentor
Under the ‘Desh ke Mentor’ initiative, people experienced in their professions will be mentoring a group of children enrolled in Delhi government schools, CM Kejriwal said in the press conference. Moreover, the initiative will be launched in mid-September.
Sonu Sood also praised Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for his welfare initiatives. He said that the national capital has an ideal model for education.
The actor said that there is much need for ‘mentors’ who can guide children towards a bright future. This is an issue that Sood came across while working on the migrant crisis, he said, adding that around 20,000 migrant children are currently getting education under charity organisations but there is a need to formalise it under the Delhi government initiative for school children.
Both Mr Kejriwal and Sonu Sood said that ‘nothing political’ was on the discussion board in the meeting. Furthermore, the actor said that there have been no discussions on political issues so far.
Apart from Delhi CM, deputy CM Manish Sisodia was also present. AAP legislator Raghav Chadha and Plaksha University founder Karan Gilhotra, a fellow philanthropist and a friend of Sood, were also present.
