SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav and DCM Keshav Maurya Clash Over 'Mohra' Allegations in Heated Exchange

Lucknow – In a heated exchange on Friday, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav referred to Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya as a "Mohra" (pawn), prompting a sharp response from Maurya, who called Yadav a "Mohra" of the Congress party.
During a press conference, Yadav criticized the BJP government, claiming they have ruined every system and department. "I heard that (Keshav Prasad) Maurya ji is a 'Mohra.' He is the password of Delhi's WiFi. Tell me, will the government run like this?...UP will not run like this. They have cheated the people of UP," Yadav stated.
In response, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya took to X (formerly Twitter), retorting, "The brave SP leader, Akhilesh Yadav, who has become a Mohra of the Congress, is harbouring misunderstandings about the BJP. Instead of targeting and insulting the backward sections, focus on saving SP from extinction."

Maurya expressed confidence that the BJP would repeat their 2017 state assembly election success in 2027 and that the 'Lotus' government would be re-elected.
Addressing Maurya's remarks, Yadav asserted that the Samajwadi Party stands with the poor. "We are Samajwadi Mohre. We are Mohre of the poor," he said.
The exchange took place as Akhilesh Yadav unveiled the 'Samvidhan Manastambh,' a monument housing a copy of the Indian Constitution, at the Samajwadi Party headquarters in Lucknow.
