Speed Limits on Agra-Lucknow Expressway: Uttar Pradesh Traffic Police Cracks Down on Speedsters—Avoid Fines and Stay Safe!
When driving cars, bikes, or any vehicle, adhering to traffic rules is essential. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in fines issued by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Some drivers may ignore traffic laws, thinking that traffic police are not present, but they often forget that these rules are designed for their safety.
Speed Limits on Agra-Lucknow Expressway
If you are traveling on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, be mindful of your speed. Exceeding the speed limit can lead to fines issued by the UP Traffic Police. A video circulating on social media shows traffic police actively checking the speed of vehicles on the expressway.
How Are Fines Issued on the Expressway?
The maximum speed limit on the expressway is set at 100 kilometers per hour (km/h). Vehicles exceeding this limit may face fines from traffic police. For light vehicles, the penalty for overspeeding is ₹2,000. In contrast, heavy vehicles have a speed limit of 60 km/h, and exceeding this limit incurs a fine of ₹4,000.
Background of the Traffic Law
The Agra-Lucknow Expressway spans 302 kilometers. According to a bill issued by the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) in 2019, if a vehicle exits this expressway in less than three hours, it is likely to be fined, as the speed limit for cars is 100 km/h.
This regulation was implemented immediately following a tragic incident in 2019, where a private bus, carrying 60 passengers, collided with a truck while speeding. The accident resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including two children and one woman.
As traffic enforcement increases on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, it serves as a reminder for all drivers to prioritize safety and adhere to speed limits to avoid penalties and ensure the well-being of themselves and others on the road.
