The Supreme Court on Monday said the centre and states should consider the work-from-home option for capital. The government should also persuade the farmers against Parali, which causes air pollution in Delhi.
Directing the centre to call an emergency meeting of states on Tuesday, the apex court asked to chalk out immediate steps to tackle the air pollution in Delhi.
Besides, the court sharply pulled up the Delhi government for lame excuses. On the other hand, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that farm waste burning accounted for just 10 per cent of the emissions on average through the year.
In an affidavit filed before the hearing,
The Delhi government, in an affidavit, has told the court that it is also ready for a complete lockdown to reduce air pollution in the capital.
But similar restrictions will be needed for the neighbouring areas too.
The air quality in Delhi has declined because of crop stubble burning and emissions from transportation among other reasons for air pollution.

Delhi’s AQI was in the Very Poor category. But the capital has reported an improvement in the air quality on Sunday.
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai also told ANI that the government of Delhi is ready for a lockdown.
The SC also asked Punjab and Haryana governments to pursue the farmers to prevent stubble burning for two weeks.
Now the court has posted the case for hearing on Wednesday.
