The Supreme Court Tuesday cleared the air on the present coronavirus crisis.
It said that while taking up the shortage of oxygen, medicines, vaccines and other supplies in the Covid crisis, it did not intend to stop High Courts from hearing petitions in various states.
The supreme court stresses that it intends to play a complimentary role and can not be a silent spectator at this time.
“We are not preventing the High Courts from hearing. We are playing complementary role, if High Courts have any difficulty in dealing with issues due to territorial limitations, we will help,” maintain the three-judge bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, LN Rao and Ravindra S Bhat.
During the hearing, the apex court directed the Centre to produce information about the supply of oxygen, states needs, the methodology adopted on the requirement of states among others.
