The introduction of the Vande Metro will take place in several cities across the nation, including Bengaluru, according to the railway officials.
Sanjeev Kishore, general manager of South Western Railway (SWR), stated here on Friday that Bengaluru, one of the most significant urban centres in India, will undoubtedly be among the first cities to receive the Vande Metro.
When the Vande Metro is ready to open, he claims that ongoing railway projects in Bengaluru, notably the doubling and quadrupling of lines and the development of infrastructure for servicing Vande Bharat trains, will be useful.
The Vande Metro, which would essentially be like a local rail but travel at a much higher pace and cover longer distances, may be built in towns within a 100-km radius of Bengaluru, such as Tumakuru and Hindupur.
Regarding the efforts to decongest KSR Bengaluru, he responded to a question by stating that yard remodelling work at the railway station might be finished by June 2023, a goal he termed as “ambitious.”
He further stated that there was no plan to construct a terminal at Hejjala.
Bengaluru Divisional Railway Manager Shyam Singh stated that it was up to the BBMP to provide specific proposals on enhancing access to the SMVT Baiyappanahalli. The necessary cooperation would be extended by the railways, he stressed.
The Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project is being built by the Railway Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka), according to Kishore, who claimed that the SWR had “no unresolved coordination concerns.” However, he claimed that some problems were difficult and required escalation to the zonal authority.
He added that the SWR is also investigating the viability of doubling the Yelahanka-Devanahalli line.
