An unexpected event has been recently reported from Jind, district in Haryana. Surprisingly, a thief returned stolen Covishield and Covaxin vaccines Thursday morning in name of humanity.
On Wednesday night, around 1,710 doses of vaccines were looted from the storeroom of a civil hospital in Jind, Haryana. The thief who robbed the necessities is stated to have put them back at a tea stall outside the Civil Lines Police Station of Jind. DCP Jind, Jitendra Khatkad told about an anonymous stranger to have left the stolen at around 12 in the noon.
Moreover, the return of vaccines comes along with an apology note written by the thief himself. It said, “Sorry, Pata Nahi Thaa Ismey Corona ki Dawai Thi [Sorry, I was not aware this packet contained Coronavirus Vaccine]”
The incident was filed on Thursday morning when the nursing in- charge the hospital was informed by the sweeper about the stolen vaccines. He informed the former about the storeroom locks to have found broken and missing of 1,270 Covishield and 440 Covaxin.
The Tribune reported that the thief broke into four lockers and a deep freezer of the storeroom. The police even stated that the district had an acute shortage of vaccines and not much was left for inoculation.
Medical officer of the hospital told the police about items such as laptop and around RS 50,000 cash to have left untouched in the storeroom. Other sources informed about polio vaccinations to have also remained safe from robbery, instead being lying in the same room.
This comes into effect when nearly the entire country is facing serious shortage of hospital beds, oxygen cylinders and vaccination dosages. Meanwhile, about 9,742 positive cases have been added to Haryana’s COVID 19 tally, reporting biggest jump in a day.
