Three Days, Three Accidents, Three Injuries: NHAI Takes an Extended Nap as Google Maps Gets the Blame

In Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, one highway has become a crash course—literally. In three days, three cars have met with accidents, leaving three people grievously injured. Despite these back-to-back mishaps, local authorities are in deep slumber, letting Google Maps take the blame.

Google Maps Leading Drivers Astray: Drivers who are not familiar with the route depend solely on GPS. A single car, which was traveling from Bareilly to Barsana via Mathura, ended up on the half-completed stretch of the Mathura-Bareilly Highway and crashed into a mud barrier.
No diversions, no boards, no barricades: Construction area is an open trap for unsuspecting motorists. Arvind Kumar is one of the severely injured as he was one of the accident victims.

Where is NHAI?
What is most shocking is the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) showing no sense of urgency, despite a series of accidents at the same spot. Even after two accidents on December 28, officials failed to install warning signs or barriers. And so, motorists continue to navigate into a cul-de-sac of disaster.
