TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee Injured in Clash with BJP MP During Heated Meeting Over Wakf Amendment Bill!
The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting on the Wakf Amendment Bill erupted into chaos when TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee and BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay got into a heated argument. During the scuffle, a glass bottle fell off Banerjee's table, causing an injury to his hand, and the meeting had to be temporarily suspended.
What Happened? The ruckus unfolded when members of organizations from Odisha were giving their presentations. Banerjee, who had already spoken three times, insisted on speaking again. BJP’s Gangopadhyay objected, sparking a fiery exchange. Eyewitnesses claim that in the heat of the moment, Banerjee threw the glass bottle, which shattered on the table, injuring him in the process.
Sources say Banerjee used harsh language, but both sides accused each other of misconduct. Things escalated further when Banerjee reportedly tossed the broken bottle towards the chairman. The drama forced the meeting to be paused for a while.
Not the First Time! This wasn't the first bout of chaos. On Monday, similar tensions arose during the Minority Ministry’s presentation, with fierce arguments between BJP and opposition MPs. Owaisi gave a one-hour presentation on the flaws in the Wakf Bill, which also led to a shouting match between him and BJP members.
