Train Accident in Jharkhand: Howrah-Mumbai Mail Derails, Several Injured
Jharkhand: A significant train accident has occurred in Jharkhand, where the Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailed between Barabambo and Rajkharsawan railway stations in the Chakradharpur division. The incident took place early Tuesday morning, around 4:30 AM, near Poto Beda village.
According to reports, train number 12810, the Howrah-Mumbai Mail, derailed with all but four general bogies coming off the tracks. Several passengers have been reported injured, and rescue operations are currently underway. Administrative officials have arrived at the scene to oversee relief efforts.
Upon receiving information about the accident, Seraikela-Kharsawan Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla also rushed to the site, along with senior railway officials. The railway authorities promptly initiated relief and rescue operations. Injured passengers are being transported to Chakradharpur Hospital for medical treatment. Most passengers were asleep at the time of the accident; some managed to escape the bogies, while others remain trapped and are being rescued.
The exact cause of the derailment is yet to be determined.
