UCC: Marriage Registration Mandatory for Uttarakhand Government Employees

UCC: The Uttarakhand government has made marriage registration mandatory for all state government employees under the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). In an official directive, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi stated that marriages conducted on or after March 26, 2010, must be registered.
Government Employees Must Register Marriages
Uttarakhand is the first state in India to implement the UCC. Following this, the government has directed all district magistrates and department heads to ensure that married employees complete their marriage registration.
Each department will appoint a nodal officer responsible for facilitating the registration process.
District-level UCC nodal officers will oversee the timely completion of registrations.
Reports on the progress will be submitted to the Home Secretary on a regular basis.
Technical Assistance for UCC Portal Registration
To ensure smooth implementation, the Uttarakhand Information Technology Development Agency (UITDA) has been instructed to provide technical support to districts and departments for seamless registration on the UCC portal.
CM Dhami Calls UCC Implementation a Historic Step
Upon the implementation of UCC, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami hailed it as a historic moment for Uttarakhand and India. He highlighted that the code was formulated after consulting 2.35 lakh people, fulfilling the promise made in the 2022 Uttarakhand Assembly elections. The CM also stated that this step is a true tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.
