Weather News: IMD forecasts fresh spells for Chennai, dense fog likely over Assam and Nagaland

Weather News: As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is very likely over Kerala and Mahe. Also, dense fog is very likely in isolated pockets over Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Nagaland.

After a few days of dry weather, monsoon showers may make a comeback in the city of Chennai.

The Weathermen have forecasted light rains for the next two days. This is mostly due to the convective activity triggered by the entry of steady easterly winds.

While Chennai has chances of receiving spells on a few days this month. For the next 48 hours, IMD forecasts light rain over some areas of Chennai and the suburbs. However, the sky conditions may be partly cloudy. Temperatures may be a maximum of 31C and a minimum of 24C.

Weather News: Forecast for tomorrow (December 8)

Heavy rainfall is very likely over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is also very likely over Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

Dense fog is very likely in isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

As per the weather officials, the system which formed over the Bay and intensified into a cyclone blocked the flow of Easterly winds into the land.

Easterlies are likely to return on Wednesday. Rains too are expected over coastal areas from December 8-9.
