Weather News: As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) there will be subdued rainfall over Northwest & Central India and West Coast. It will continue for another 5 days.
As per the press release shared by the IMD on Twitter, the western end of the monsoon trough lies to the north of its normal position.
While the eastern end lies along the foothills of Himalayas. By 25th Aug the monsoon trough is very likely to run close to foothills of Himalayas.
Weather News: Cyclone, Rainfall and precipitation
Due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, the eastern end of the monsoon trough is likely to shift southwards from 27th August.
Strong southerly/southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to northeast India are very likely to continue to prevail till today.
As per reports, isolated extremely heavy falls also likely over Assam and Meghalaya.
Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls very likely to continue over Bihar, East UP and Uttarakhand till 27th August.

Moreover, the latest IPCC report highlights that monsoon rains would likely increase by 5 per cent for every 1 degree Celsius of warming. Among other outcomes remain any erratic changes in the monsoon which is likely to affect food security.
As a result of this, monsoon is going to be more erratic throughout the 21st century. The Indian government’s Assessment Of Climate Change Over The Indian Region, published in 2020, states that the monsoon will become more extreme in the coming decades. Also, there will be longer dry spells, which would alternate with heavy rains

There will be changes in monsoon precipitation. Both annual and summer monsoon precipitation are projected to increase.
Heat extremes have increased; while cold extremes have decreased. And these trends will continue over the coming decades, for the Indian subcontinent, report states.
As per IPCC, the presence of aerosols and particulate matter have influenced rainfall events in the Indian subcontinent.
In fact, aerosols and particulate matter remain a dominant cause of the observed decrease of South and Southeast Asian monsoon precipitation.
