Why heavy rains in October?
Rains in October are a very rare phenomenon. Fresh spell of showers have been recorded in several parts of northern India so far.
But these are certainly not the usual monsoon showers. These are the outcomes of a western disturbance, formed as a trough in mid and upper tropospheric levels.
So, the interaction of the western disturbance with the cyclonic circulation is what is causing the heavy rains in several parts of Bihar, UP, and Uttarakhand.
