Weather update: Several parts of Delhi witnessed rains on Thursday. The light sprinkles brought much-needed relief to Delhi residents. Sweltering temperature levels went further down after rains lashed Delhi and nearby areas. The weather department has forecasted more downpours during the day.
The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 24.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital received 56.6 mm of rainfall from 8.30 am on Wednesday to 8.30 am on Thursday.
The constant drizzling caused heavy traffic on several key stretches, including the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, the Bhairon Marg-Ring Road junction, Vikas Marg, DND and Sarai Kale Khan.
It will be overcast throughout the day with maximum temperatures around 35 degrees Celsius.
The relative humidity at 8.30 am was 95 per cent, as per the weather office. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted “enhanced rainfall activity” over northwest India for the coming days.
