West Bengal: State to Implement Liquor Price Hike Starting Today

Kolkata: The price of liquor is set to rise in the state starting today. Decisions regarding the increase in prices for various brands of liquor will be finalized today.

The state government had requested an Expression of Interest (EOI) from liquor manufacturing companies to understand the increased costs of production. The primary aim was to assess how much the cost of liquor production has risen. Based on the prices suggested by the liquor manufacturers, the state government will impose taxes, after which the final prices will be determined.

Today, at the company's office in Salt Lake, the state will open and review the Expressions of Interest submitted by the liquor manufacturers. Following this review, taxes will be added, and the final prices will be announced.

This move comes as part of the state's efforts to adjust to the rising costs in liquor production and ensure proper taxation and revenue generation. Consumers should expect to see the new prices reflected in the market shortly.
