Bhopal, India — The Madhya Pradesh government has appointed Mohammad Suleman, the Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Agriculture Production, as the interim chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Employee Selection Board. This appointment, effective from August 2, indicates a shift in his responsibilities as the current administration gradually transitions him out of the secretariat.
Suleman began his distinguished administrative career as an Assistant Collector in Gwalior. His career trajectory saw him serving as Collector in several districts including Seoni, Balaghat, and Indore. His impressive performance earned him a position in the state capital, Bhopal.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Suleman was instrumental in handling health services when then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other IAS officers struggled to find effective solutions. Suleman’s leadership in managing the crisis garnered national recognition and praise, cementing his reputation as a capable and reliable administrator.
Role During Kamal Nath’s Government
When Kamal Nath became Chief Minister in 2018, Suleman focused on industrial investments. His efforts included leading a delegation to Switzerland in January 2019, where he organized an investor conference aimed at boosting foreign investment in the state. Despite the change in government, Suleman's position remained strong, and he continued to hold significant influence.
Enduring Influence Amid Administrative Changes
Even when Dr. Mohan Yadav made extensive administrative changes in 2023, Suleman’s influential role remained intact. His career resilience is evident as he adapted to shifting political demands without losing his stature. There were also discussions that Suleman played a role in persuading Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to remove Yashodhara Raje Scindia from the post of Industry Minister, highlighting his significant political clout.
