Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh – The terror of wolf attacks continues unabated in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district, where a two-year-old girl was killed, and three others were injured in the latest incident. Despite efforts by the Forest Department, which has already captured four wolves, the menace persists, causing widespread panic across 35 villages in the region.

In the early hours of Monday, around 3:55 a.m., a two-year-old girl named Anjali fell victim to the predatory wolves. The child’s mother, devastated by the loss, recounted the harrowing experience: "I woke up when my six-month-old baby started crying. That's when I realized my two-year-old daughter was missing. The wolves had taken her, biting both her arms. We are poor, working as laborers, and our home has no doors."

In addition to Anjali, three other individuals were injured in separate attacks. Seven-year-old Paras and a woman named Kamala Devi were admitted to the hospital with serious injuries, while another child, identified as Anchal, also sustained injuries.

Kamala Devi described the terrifying moment when a wolf attacked her as she returned from the toilet late Sunday night. "It grabbed me by the neck and ear. I screamed loudly, and only then did it run away," she said. Her son, Mansa Ram, explained that the wolf had pushed open their door and entered the house before attacking his mother.

The District Magistrate of Bahraich, Monica Rani, urged villagers to remain vigilant and sleep indoors to avoid further attacks. "We have captured four wolves, but two more are still at large. Our teams are patrolling continuously, and we are doing everything possible to capture the remaining wolves as soon as possible," she assured.

The Forest Department has launched "Operation Bhediya" to tackle the wolf menace. So far, four wolves have been captured, and the department is using techniques like spraying elephant dung and urine around villages to deter the predators. High alert has been declared in at least 35 villages, and patrol teams have been deployed to monitor dangerous areas during the night.

In the past month and a half, the pack of wolves has claimed the lives of eight children and one woman, leaving the villagers of Bahraich in a state of fear and anxiety. The ongoing threat has prompted authorities to continue their relentless efforts to bring an end to the deadly attacks.
