Kumbh Mela 2025: Yogi’s Plan to Unite Hindus: Dalit and Tribal Saints to Be Elevated by Akhada Parishad
In a historic move to dismantle caste divisions within the Hindu community, the Akhada Parishad has declared its decision to elevate saints from Dalit and tribal backgrounds to the prestigious title of Mahamandaleshwar. This is in line with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision for creating an inclusive society by breaking caste barriers.
A bold step to eradicate caste divisions
This announcement comes as part of a broader plan to address caste-based conflicts in the country. For the first time in history, the Akhada Parishad has decided to honor saints from marginalized communities during the upcoming Kumbh Mela. According to the Parishad's president, Mahant Ravindra Puri Maharaj, this initiative seeks to end the exploitation of caste as a tool for division and conflict within the Hindu society.
Implementing Yogi’s Vision of Unity
The move is also perceived as a step in the direction of the implementation of Yogi Adityanath's ideology of "Batooge toh Katooge" (Divide and Suffer). Akhada Parishad has made concrete steps for a framework that suits its vision, which is all the more inclusive. Mahant Ravindra Puri Maharaj said, "Hindus are being divided in the name of caste. To end this divisiveness, we will elevate Dalit and tribal saints."
A New Era in Hindu Gurus
Appointing Mahamandaleshwar from the backward classes itself will be a precedent and a statement of social equality and religious inclusiveness that the Akhada Parishad seeks to set in the face of change and transformation. The upcoming Kumbh Mela will once again present this change in form of unifying the haves and have-nots under the single umbrella of Hindu spirituality.
