Ashtami: Today marks Maha Ashtami, celebrations will take place across the nation on October 3, 2022.
The 9-day-long fasting manifests the victory of good over evil. It also means the end of the battle between Maa Durga and the demon Mahishasura.
Shardiya Navratri began on September 26 and will conclude tomorrow October 4th. The concluding day sees Navami puja and Dussehra/ Vijayadashami on October 5th.
On this auspicious occasion of Ashtami, devotees conduct Kanjak or Kanya Pooja. In this practice, nine girls who have not yet attained puberty are welcomed into the house and their feet are washed. These girls are revered in the name of Goddess Durga. The ritual is followed across India.
Also, on Maha Navami, families perform Kanya Puja. As per Devi Bhagwat Puran, young girls who are worshipped on this day are embodiments of Goddess Durga.
Ashtami: Kanya Puja Muhurat

The worship of nine girls is accompanied by good food (bhog) later. Kanya puja is performed because kids have the purest souls.

Ashtami Tithi started on October 2 2022 at 6.47 pm and it will end on October 3 2022 at 4:37 pm. then, Navami Tithi will start.
Navami Tithi starts from 04:37 pm today till 02.20 pm on October 4.
Shubh Muhurat – 10.41 am to 12.10 am.
Amrit Muhurat – 12.10 pm till 1:38 pm.
The nine divine avatars of Goddess Durga are Sailaputri, Brahmacharini, Andraghanta, Kusamanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalarati, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri.
